This past weekend my mates and I disappeared on our annual ‘June Long Weekend Getaway’, which over the years has included the charms and wild beauty of Sanbona Game Reserve and the chilly scenery of Tulbagh. This time, it was spacious Farmhouse Erika in Pat Busch Mountain Reserve that called our names, along with the equally friendly calls from Graham Beck, Springfield, Esona…!
We had the BEST time – walks, hikes, watching the local Ngunis escape from their enclosure, lots (and lots) of wine tasting, braais, communal cooking, indoor fire places, happy laughter and endless scenery to make my city heart simply soar. We also checked out the brand new exclusive tents, forming part of the Africamps brand, and now setting up a space in Pat Busch.
But it still has that lovely ‘under canvas’ detail, with warm wooden flooring, use of aluminum finishes and zip-close front doors. Suffice to say, our little ‘walk to the dam’ included a full reccy of one of the unoccupied tents, marvelling at the pure comfort of it all. If you’ve done proper camping, complete with deflated mattresses, muddy entrance areas, and the clink of tin cups, then this is really 5-star treatment.
Well, after marvelling at these wonderful abodes, we returned to Farmhouse Erica where we lolled around before heading out to Graham Beck for some bubbly tasting. Pat Busch is truly a beautiful spot; I will certainly be returning, and maybe even glamping it up.
