I describe myself as both creative and organised, a bit of an oxymoron for some, but for me it works! My name is Kimberley and I’m the owner and dreamer behind Lovely Happy House. I am a wife to my wonderful teacher/rugby coach husband and mom to a beautiful strawberry-blonde splash of a toddler and a quickly-growing little newborn baby boy. I live and breathe the digital marketing world, working specifically in African and international travel, and I’m passionate about DIY, home décor, discovering new recipes, social media technologies and living an outdoorsy life in God’s beautiful creation.
The road towards Lovely Happy House has been a long, winding scenic route. I started blogging when I was a student (oh, those carefree days!) about all bits and bobs, I tailored my focus with a new blog as a young twenty-something focusing on décor, design, fashion and inspiration… and then I became a mom.
The last two and a bit years have been a blur of early morning breastfeeding, making baby food in bulk on Sunday afternoons, and spending an inordinate amount of time trying to encourage happy faces while doing tummy time on the floor. This grew to navigating stairs, obsessions with cricket bats and rugby balls, finger foods and longer sleeps for mom. It also meant that I was juggling being a full time working professional with being a full time mom at the same time. Gym (and all those wonderful hours spent on the netball court, mountain trails and circling Cape Point) dwindled, as did my blogging life.
For the past year I’ve dreamed of resurrecting my blog dream – bringing along my passions for digital media and home décor, merging it with mommy hood and blending it with family recipes.
This is Lovely. Happy. House. Lovely – because why shouldn’t your home and your life be as beautiful as they can be? From inspirational décor tips to quick and easy DIYs, design inspiration and more, I hope to bring you a slice of pretty into your day. Happy – because all women deserve a space where they can laugh till they collapse on the floor, breathe life into their children’s lives, and be inspired with something new, whether a recipe, a parenting tip or story to giggle over, or a way to make their creative lives full to bursting.
And house. Because this is home.
