I worked from home today. And home, really wasn’t so much about being at home, but about being available to my kids (baby had his 6 month doctor’s appointment) and also to avoid being in the soul-destroying Cape Town for at least one day this week.
It was rather blissful. But I ended up working in silence (is golden) at my parents’ house which turned out to be supremely productive, and void of any distractions or calls to read The Billy Goat Gruff again. I need to do this more often.
Right now I have a little nook in my bedroom – you know those alcoves between twin sets of cupboards with a mirror – that I use to work, but I do dream of the day I’ll be able to convert one of our smaller bedrooms into a gorgeous work-from-home office. I get so inspired when I see those beautiful spaces, lovely pinboards filled with orderly calendars, a life-giving green plant on the desk, pens stacked neatly in home-made glitter jars. Sigh.
So in order to stop my meh-i-wish-i-had-a-dream-home-office feelings, I’ve decided to share some of the beautiful inspiration I’ve been trawling through on Pinterest over the last week. And yes, it’s all in grey and charcoal tones (but look for the wood, blush and green accents).
Happy Friday my lovelies!

I love how the indoor plants almost create a little private space for this little office – really cute!

The perfect floating shelves against a gorgeous wood panelled wall. I would love a little space like this that I could keep neat!

Keep what inspires you at eye-level, that way you’ll never be lacking in ideas and always reminded that you were destined to create.

Space for two? Why not. If you have a long wall / window area that can accommodate a dual desk, go for it.

Quiet White Retreat – source: Decor Pad
Quiet, white, modern and simple. All a home office really needs to be. Plus there’s a lovely wood & glass door to keep out the noise.

Quite possibly a dream wall for me? A gorgeous bookshelf forming a library of sorts, and a dining room table serving as a desk.

One quick glance and you’re aware of what is going on for the entire month. Plus it looks great on the dark charcoal wall.

A small wall backing onto a busier space could become a little desk nook for those quiet, snatched moments at home.

Time to get busy with personalising my home office space. As small as it is, it certainly can become a little haven of productivity! 🙂
