Why It’s Going to Be a Happy New Year

03/01/2017 by kimberley 2 Comments

Firstly, a happy new year! 2017 has arrived, and not a moment too soon for most it seems! Last year was a year of international surprises (Brexit, the US elections, anyone?), local argy bargies (attempts to get a vote of no confidence in our president, the lackluster Springbok performance) and personally for me, a lot of change.

I resigned from my job after almost 8 years to pursue a new fresh opportunity in the digital marketing space, I got pregnant and had my second son Oliver, my eldest son Benjamin at the age of 2 and a bit moved rooms, got a big-boy bed and started playschool, my dad had two successful hip operations, my folks moved house after 30 years and I finally started my blog!

Let’s bring on 2017. I for one, am planning on taking each moment as it comes. With two small kids, it’s vital to be organised and plan ahead, but it’s also worth going with the flow and learning to relax into the time we have together and not get caught up in doing a million things (and that includes rushing around doing chores on the weekends when we can rather focus on family time).

I’m also keen to start living more intentionally when it comes to health, food and simplicity. I believe that those three things will really enable me to have more energy to devote to myself and my family and which will keep me happy and content for longer!

I want to experience adventure (I’m already planning my 32nd birthday going zip-lining in Grabouw) and a real fulfillment of community (we’ve been part of an exceptional LIFE (linked in faith effectively) group for the past few years which has been a wonderful way to walk alongside fellow believers in a practical and spiritual sense), and also to see more fruit in my relationships, whether that’s my amazing marriage, friendships and family connections.

Most of all, I want this year to include time to reflect and process my experiences as a mom, wife, sister, daughter and friend… to strive to be better, to work harder and love more fiercely, to pray with passion and to laugh louder. And to do some great DIY too!

Here’s to the new year!
